Shades of Love - Hat Factory (Luton)

11-11-2011

On Thursday 17 November 2011, The Hat Factory is pleased to host the Odissi Ensemble in Shades of Love, a powerful show of group dance performances and reflective intimate solos, presented by kadam.

Odissi is a rare dance style which is currently blossoming in the UK. This East Indian style of dance is recognised for its sculptural poses and lyrical articulation of the body. Shades of Love explores the various moods of love from sensual to spiritual, drawing from both ancient narratives and personal insight. This performance joins intricate rhythms with detailed hand gestures and evocative expression to give a rich and varied experience.

The Odissi ensemble, led by Katie Ryan, have come together to form a dynamic dance company that aims to increase the profile of Odissi in the UK. This performance marks Shades of Loves regional premiere and follows the Ensembles London showing at Rich Mix in August 2011.
