An Interview with Amy Wyke

Amy Wyke
I have seen Amy develop and hone her craft over recent years by sheer hard work and perseverance. She has played showcases at just about every acoustic night going in the area and her voice and songwriting has progressed as well as her confidence as a performer. The hard work has paid off as Amy releases her first EP "Keep Breathing" this summer and she has had the major scoop of being chosen to tour with Radio 1's Folk Face this summer, which features Chris Moyle’s’ side-kick Comedy Dave and the tour will feature regularly on Chris’ breakfast show.
The EP is has been a long time in the making but the 4 tracks do show all sides of her writing. With some superb production from Andy Nichol we hear her rock out with her band, The Mercury, on the opening track ‘Keep Breathing’ and we are then taken through the softer sides to the lush, almost orchestral arrangement of the closer ‘Jealousy’. For those who haven’t heard Amy as a guide she is a little reminiscent of Natalie Imbrulglia, Avril Lavigne and Alanis Morrisette, but her songs are delivered definitely totally in her own style and always sung from the heart.
